What’s happening at G2Arctic?
We want you to know what a difference your support makes in the community.
This summer we had over 50 volunteers serve more than 6,000 hours at G2A! Seven interns spent over three months serving and leading the camp’s summer programs and working on projects in between. We hosted four weeklong inclusive summer camps with 33 campers! Our volunteers taught our campers about beekeeping, agriculture, carpentry, and basic wilderness and culinary skills. We partnered with Stone Soup Group for one of our camps and had an incredible staff teaching the campers about job skills and how to live meaningful lives.
Working toward our goal to be more sustainable, we continued to partner with Nadon Family Home. They started building a new group home for individuals with special abilities at the camp that’s almost finished. We’re also wrapping up work on our barn, which will be used as a workshop and storage space. Our friends at Arctic Terra continued to work hard at G2A this summer, clearing fields, building new trails, and working on the new group home.
After purchasing the camp in June, G2A hired two new staff members, David and Jenn Bozard who have helped the camp pursue new ways to be financially sustainable. This summer, we started making and selling fireweed jelly and have been renting our facilities for corporate events and weddings. Our corporate retreat with Bright Beginnings and the wedding we hosted in August were both great successes, and we’re excited to continue moving forward with this!
Without a doubt, this has been Gateway to the Arctic Camp’s best summer yet! It takes a certain kind of person to make a difference, someone that chooses to help others. Thank you for being one of them. Thank you for making a difference in the community.
Recent Baptisms at the GLCC
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
